Since its inception in 1995, Nealis Engineering has been committed to controlled growth and utmost service to its clients. Founder Gary Nealis recognized, early on, the importance of seamless leadership, so it’s no coincidence that now – seven years after being selected by Gary as an emerging leader, Jason VanBrocklin, PE will begin to assume the role of managing partner. Over the course of the next few years, as part of the company’s succession plan, Gary will progressively step down his role in administration while maintaining his position as engineer and advisor.
The company will continue its long-held policy of accepting only four to six major projects (Mechanical and Electrical Construction >$1,000,000) annually in order to retain the personal attention and customer service that have been the hallmarks of the company’s success. Additional smaller projects complete our workload of approximately 100 projects per year, allowing us to operate efficiently, stay up-to-date with a variety of industries, and to maintain a diverse customer base. Commissioning of and the design of many LEED accredited buildings has also become an important part of the company’s work. Our staff is accustomed to designing any project utilizing Autodesk’s AutoCAD or Revit (Building Information Modeling) software.
Nealis Engineering, Inc. is located in Building 50 of the former Traverse City State Hospital. Known today as The Village – Grand Traverse Commons, this 19th century Victorian-Italianate brick building is being carefully renovated for residential, office, and retail use. Nealis Engineering occupies space on the first floor where soaring ceilings, ornate woodwork, and views through floor-to-ceiling windows of mature wooded grounds, create a stunning backdrop for offices and studio.www.thevillagetc.com
At Nealis Engineering, our emphasis is always on providing cost effective solutions that offer value to our customers. Our colleagues in the business – architects and owners –have come to rely on our strengths in cost-estimating and value engineering, even when we aren’t involved in the design.
Recently projects completed include several schools (Grand Traverse Academy and their recent kindergarten addition, Interlochen Center for the Arts’ Visual Arts Building, Traverse City Area Public School’s (TCAPS) Long Lake Elementary School, Northwestern Michigan College’s (NMC) Aero Park Laboratories and several other projects for TCAPS and NMC), as well as clinics, community buildings, libraries, fire stations, and more. (See PORTFOLIO). Some are simple, single-story structures; some are complex high-rise commercial projects; and a significant portion of our work has been in the renovation and updating of engineering interfaces of older buildings.
